Wow! Reading your experiences and having absolutely no way to relate! We had a few years of hidden easter baskets but no churching -- after that Easter came and went without my attention. Until Jesus Christ Superstar came out and I was able to rock out some kind of understanding of the situation. I did like the character of Judas (Murray Head) better than JC, although Ian Gillan's vocals were transcendent in a musical sort of way. Thanks for the reminder it is this weekend. I will be in the garden. Wishing you and Jairo all the best!

Although my memories of Easter are not as rich and emotional as the experiences of that young boy in Wisconsin, my Presbyterian Easters were happy times with Spring flowers, new frilly dresses and hats, chocolate bunnies and pastel eggs in baskets and trays covered with paper grass. We had extended family dinners around large dining tables covered with lace cloths and all the best China and silver, laden with platters of ham, scalloped potatoes, hot rolls and glorious fresh coconut cake for dessert. That menu never seemed to vary. The religious aspect barely touched me and no crucified Jesus hung on our cross. Mine was a pagan Easter celebrated as a rite of Spring and the end of winter’s cold and confinement. It still is.

Fabulous musings; brings so many memories. The lack of Bobèches in La Castellana and the very painful wax burns when I was six is one of the many reason I became an atheist at a young age, but more importantly a catholic atheist which are the worst! Regarding your recollections of JC on the cross, all I can say to you is…..Cheeses!!! I look forward to the next Parisian musings. xxx
