Hello subscribers,
I want to thank you all for the positive reactions to the March NWPL newsletter/blog. Your comments have inspired me to keep writing—and Jairo is also now planning how he can contribute more substantially to this endeavor. We want to create a space to maintain contact with the many people we have encountered in our 40+ years of theatre work and research and to hone our writing and online presentation skills as we plan different projects in this new phase of our journey. I will try to publish a newsletter/blog on a monthly schedule for the moment. In between, there may be short comments or quick announcements about the various happenings that intersect with the New World world. Right now, there are a few housekeeping items to keep the communication easy:
We have migrated our Mailchimp mailing list to Substack in order to have a beginning pool of people interested in NWPL activities. Subscribing or unsubscribing from this newsletter should be very easy and immediate with Substack. Let me know if you have any problems.
Please feel free to share the newsletter with your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Or anywhere else. We would like to increase our audience and also make sure that those subscribed really want to be in this community.
Past blog postings and newsletters will be archived within Substack as well as on the NWPL website. I still have not migrated the past blog postings to Substack, but they are all accessible on the website: www.nwplab.com
Feel free to explore Substack and subscribe to other writers, podcasts, etc. There is some very interesting thinking happening on this platform.
I have exciting news to share: You can now read New World Performance Lab in the new Substack app for iPhone.
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox for our Substack and any others you subscribe to. New posts will never get lost in your email filters, or stuck in spam. Longer posts will never cut-off by your email app. Comments and rich media will all work seamlessly. Overall, it’s a big upgrade to the reading experience.
The Substack app is currently available for iOS. If you don’t have an Apple device, you can join the Android waitlist here.
That’s all for now. We’ll meet again in April after a quick trip to Mont St. Michel. Oh, and if you get the chance, contribute a small sum to my birthday fundraiser for CATAC, our theatre friends in Akron, who have taken over the theatre space and organization where we worked in Ohio.
